Bicycle Art - Great Day

This is an appropriate painting for me today to announce to you
that I have reached "500" completed paintings since I began
posting my work online in September 2006! For some reason, that
number seems like a milestone, so I will pat myself on the back
today for a "job well done" : )
and thank YOU all for viewing!!!

"Great Day"
oil on 1.5" deep canvas

There is a sense of a job well done after a long ride
on a beautiful day. I wanted to capture that and the
feeling of freedom.
We often see the beauty of objects in their complete
form but sometimes we miss the beauty of its parts ~

Still Life - Books and Pens

"Books and Pens"
oil on 1.5" deep canvas - 10"x10"

I had some inquiries from subscribers to see some more
paintings with books. I was really happy to create a new
painting on this subject as reading a good book and writing
with a special pen are definitely on my list of favorite things!
Hope you enjoy this large one.

No matter how much it is raining......there is always
at least one who is braving the weather without an umbrella.

Mine is usually in the trunk of the car! :)

dog portrait - " In the Clouds"

"Head in the Clouds"
oil on 1.5" deep canvas

I think we all find our heads in the clouds occasionally.
I found this large neighborhood hound soaking up a bit of
sunshine on the top step and with his head in the clouds, he
looked like he was certainly the king of his hill.

Figurative Cityscape - Digital Conversations

"Digital Conversations"- sold

Secret bits of communication.
A lot of conversations are conducted through cell phones or
computers these days and sometimes when they are sitting next to you.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the technology but I also love the
face to face communication that often gets changed into pixels!!

I liked the end result of this piece. working to create a feeling
of connection but yet difference and contrast.

Figurative painting - Black Sheep

"Black Sheep"
oil on 1.5" deep canvas

I thought this was a fun idea, sort of tells it all.

A store near the O.S.U.campus area called the "Black Sheep"
provides skate boards, snow boards, inline skates and apparel
for its sport fans. Was fun to see a spiked hair style ~
haven't seen one in a while.

Taking a Break - Light & Form

 Copyright © 2010 Linda Apple
oil on canvas

You know how it is when you work, work, work and you just need a moment alone!
You would go anywhere to get away from listening to the same old grind.
That was my idea for this piece.
I used strong light and dark in a pattern of squares from
windows and floor to help create the mood.

Colorful Nude - art within art

"The Nude"
oil on 1.5" deep canvas
6"x8"- sold

A colorful nude attracts some attention.

In today's piece I worked on creating more contrast.
By putting the foreground figures in more of a
shadow or silhouette lighting it created a stronger
contrast and draws the eye to the colorful nude.
