"Self Portrait"- sold
Collectible Fine Art - oil on canvas - 6"x 6"
A painting A Day - contemporary realism, cafe shadows, city scene

"Yep, a self portrait. Actually, I haven't done a self portrait since
the early 70's. So,this is me standing at a local coffee shop. Do we
want to get philosophical about it? Oh, why not. In this world today,
talking to people around the world through the internet, making friends
in distant places and all the time never actually seeing the real person...
I create my paintings, put them online and I say to myself, it is the work that
really matters."

The Famous Tea Party

Copyright © 2008 Linda Apple

"The Tea Party"- - original painting is sold
 6"x 8"
The Mother's Day weekend gave me a little bit of extra time to research more of the Appletree Secret Albums and present this information from 1818.
ABIGALE PATCH and
FLORA HAMSTARK
Abigale Patch (on the right), one of Bertrum’s many sisters, is shown here with her childhood friend Flora Hamstark. This image comes as no surprise to me after finding out that Abigale became quite reknown, after she was awarded a beautiful tea set for winning the very first baby contest ever recorded. There is much more written about Abigale, that I will reveal later on, as she was involved in the underground movement in 1834.
Her friend Flora, ran off with a band of gypsies that came up the Ohio River around 1830, after falling in love with their fortune teller. She was fascinated with the profession and later formed the secret group known as the “Whiskered Wizards”."

Expresso Cafe

"Expresso Cafe"- sold
Collectible Fine Art - oil on canvas - 6"x 8"
A painting A Day - contemporary realism,city scene, figurative

"It seemed like some very long days this past week. Those times when you feel like you work and work and nothing gets done. I am sure all of you have those days. Well, that's the way it has been. I have commissions I have been working to complete, other works for a show and of course the Mother's Day weekend. Whew! Never seems to be enough hours in the day.
This piece could be a portrait of me walking into an expresso cafe...(it isn't me, but could be). I do LOVE a good coffee and also enjoy sitting in a cafe to sketch or work on my laptop, like I am sure many of you do too. So, maybe with a little more caffeine, I will get some things completed!"

Collectible Fine Art - oil on canvas - 6"x 6"
A painting A Day - contemporary realism,museum series, figurative

"A small glimpse into the possible thoughts this woman might be having.
When I was designing this piece some of my thoughts dealt with color. I decided to make a very light background and concentrate the color on the woman to make it more like she was the art."

"For Rent"- sold
Collectible Fine Art - oil on canvas - 6"x 6"
A painting A Day - contemporary realism,city scene, figurative

"Today's piece is one of many scenes I see every day on the street near the Ohio State Campus. I am sure you have you noticed that nearly everyone you see walking are also talking on their cell phones. It has become such a part of everyday life that it is almost rare to see someone without it. "
